It's funny how one day you can be wearing one thing that's totally in style and that next week it would be considered a felony in the fashion world. Trends are constantly being revaluated and twisted to make new ones, there's a lot of circulation of the same trends that have been around almost sense the beginning of time, everyday. Analyzing trends and trend forecasting are to jobs in fashion that require a lot of time and devotion, they can be both giving and unforgiving. I thought for a long time if trend forecasting is really something that I would really like to do and I thought to myself "are you ready to make big sacrifices"? Obviously I wasn't, but my advice to anyone that would like to have a job in this field be ready to do your research (and lots of it). Even when you're a stylist, makeup cynosure or anything involving urban or pop culture, you have to stay up day and night to trend watch because if you don't you'll be left in the dust. In a world of imitators and anticipators it's important that you set trends as well. you don't want to walk around looking like the next person, we were all born individuals, "so lets act like it".
I'm in college so it takes a lot for me just to go out and go shopping sometimes, luckily I have a trend forecasting app on my phone, these can come in handy but also can be very costly. If you don't have time to watch trends these apps will send them right to your mobile device. It doesn't take a lot of money to follow trends either. I shop a lot at thrift stores and high end boutiques and I tend to find good pieces there at reasonable prices. It's all in the way that you pair your clothes together, if you're really good at it you can create a lot of different outfits and still stay on trend but that's only if you know what you're doing. This is my philosophy "trends come and go, but individuality is forever".
